We’re a mobile detailer, so you can guess which option we like. But the honest answer is that all three have a place, and the right one depends on what you need that week.
The automatic car wash
What it is: You drive through a tunnel. Either brushes and cloth strips scrub the car, or (in a touchless wash) high-pressure water and stronger chemicals do the work.
Good for: A quick rinse when the car is covered in salt or pollen and you just need it off. It’s cheap, it takes five minutes, and there’s one on every corner of Broad Street.
The catch: Brush washes are the main cause of swirl marks. Those brushes have cleaned hundreds of cars before yours, and they carry the grit along. Touchless washes avoid that, but they rarely get a car fully clean, and they don’t touch the inside at all.
The detail shop
What it is: You drop the car off at a shop with a bay, lights, lifts and specialty equipment.
Good for: Heavy work. Paint correction, multi-year ceramic coatings, deep seat extraction, serious odor removal. Some of that really does need a controlled indoor space and a full day.
The catch: Your time. You drop it off, arrange a ride, and pick it up later, often the next day for bigger jobs. For a regular clean-up, that’s a lot of hassle.
Mobile detailing
What it is: The detailer comes to your home or office and does the work where the car is parked.
Good for: Regular maintenance and a proper deep clean without losing half a day. A real hand wash, a full interior, headlights, done while you work or hang out at home. For most cars, most of the time, this is all they need.
The catch: It depends on the weather, and the detailer needs water and power nearby. And it’s not the right fit for every job. A mobile detailer working from a driveway isn’t going to do a two-day paint correction. We don’t, and we’ll say so.

So which one?
If the car just needs the salt off in February, a touchless wash is fine. If you want swirl marks polished out or a multi-year coating, find a good shop. For everything in between, which is most of it, having someone come to your driveway is the easiest way to keep a car looking good.
That’s what we do. See our services, check what we charge, or book a time.
