Driveway Detail RVA (“we”, “us”) is a mobile car detailing business in Richmond, Virginia. This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, book a service or contact us, and what we do with it. The short version: we only collect what we need to clean your car and stay in touch about it, and we never sell it.
What we collect
When you book or send us a message, you give us:
- Your name, phone number and, if you choose, your email address
- The address where your car will be and your ZIP code
- Your vehicle’s year, make and model, and, if you add it, its license plate
- Anything you write in the notes, like a gate code or where the car is parked
- The service, add-ons, date and time you pick
- The weather forecast for the day you pick, as the booking form showed it to you
When you book on this website, your booking is saved with our web host, Netlify, so the time is held for you and nobody else can book it, and the details are emailed to us through Netlify. Other people using the booking form only see which times are taken, never who took them. To stop abuse, the booking system counts booking attempts per connection using a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address; the IP address itself is never stored. When a booking comes in, we may also get a short alert on our own phone through the Pushcut app. It says at most the service, day, time, your first name and last initial, and your ZIP code, never your phone number or street address.
If you add a license plate, we keep a short record for that car: the dates and services of finished visits and the mobile number used for it. We use it only for the every-4th-wash discount and the monthly plan. The booking form only shows what a car has earned to someone who types both the plate and a mobile number already used for that car.
Card and tap-to-pay payments are processed by Square. Square’s own privacy policy covers the data they handle. We never see or store your full card number.
Messages sent through the contact form are also delivered to us through Netlify.
Weather forecast
The forecast on this website comes from the National Weather Service (weather.gov), a US government agency. Your browser asks it for the forecast directly, so, like any website you visit, it sees your IP address. If you type a ZIP code, the request only contains the approximate coordinates of the center of that ZIP code, never your street address. Your ZIP code and the forecast are saved in your own browser so the site remembers them next time. They only reach us if you book.
Photos
With your permission, we take before-and-after photos of your car. We only post them online if you’ve said yes, and we keep license plates, house numbers and faces out of the shot.
How we use it
- To confirm, schedule and remind you about appointments, usually by text message
- To find your car and do the job
- To send a receipt and answer questions
- To follow up once after the job, for example to ask for a review
We don’t sell, rent or trade your information. We don’t share it with anyone except the services we use to run the business (like Square, Netlify, Twilio and Pushcut), and only as much as they need.
Text messages
We text you about your booking: to confirm it, ask about the job, answer a request, move it because of weather, or cancel it and tell you why. If you don’t want texts, reply STOP or tell us, and we’ll call or email instead.
We only send offer texts (discounts and deals) if you checked the box for them on the booking form. When you do, we save when you said yes and the wording you agreed to, so we can show your consent. Reply STOP to any text to stop them; we keep your number on a do-not-text list so you don’t get them again.
Automatic texts are sent through Twilio, our text-message provider, which only uses your number to deliver them. We never sell or share your mobile number or your text-message consent with anyone for their own marketing.
Website analytics and cookies
This website may use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and how people find us. It uses cookies and collects general information such as your browser, device and approximate location. It doesn’t tell us who you are. You can block cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
How long we keep it
We keep customer records (name, contact details, vehicle, service history) as long as you’re a customer and for a reasonable time after, mainly for taxes and so we know your car’s history next time. Ask us and we’ll delete your information, unless we have to keep something for tax or legal reasons.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just call, text or email us using the details below.
Children
This website is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
