These terms apply to every service booked with Driveway Detail RVA (“we”, “us”), whether you book on this website, by phone or by text. By booking, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t book.

1. Services and prices

Our services and prices are listed on our pricing page. Online estimates are based on what you tell us. Three things can change the price, and only if we tell you before we start:

  • Heavy soil: $25 to $75 extra for vehicles that need much more time than usual (heavy pet hair, mud, sand, spills, a lot of trash).
  • Travel: free within 20 miles of Richmond; a flat $25 further out.
  • A different vehicle: the price goes by the vehicle we see at your door. If it’s a different size than the one booked (for example, an SUV or truck booked as a sedan), we charge the price for its size.

If you don’t accept an extra charge, we can do the original service as far as the time allows, or reschedule.

Every 4th wash and the monthly plan. Both go by the car’s license plate and only count finished jobs in our records.

  • Every 4th wash, 30% off: exterior washes, interior details and full details count if they’re at least a week apart and within 12 months. Headlight restoration on its own and monthly plan washes don’t count. The discount is on the service and add-ons of that visit, not on travel or weather fees.
  • Monthly Maintenance Wash, $99 a month: for a car that had a Full Detail with us. It can only be booked once the car’s license plate and your mobile number match that car in our records. One maintenance wash per calendar month, paid at the visit. It isn’t a contract: nothing is charged automatically, and you can stop at any time by not booking. If a calendar month passes without a Full Detail or maintenance wash on the car, the plan ends, and a new Full Detail starts it again. Unused months don’t carry over.
  • Both belong to the car, can’t be exchanged for cash and don’t combine with other discounts. We may check the plate at the car. If you think we missed a visit, text us and we’ll look. We can change or end these offers for future visits; a visit you’ve already booked keeps the price you were shown.

2. Your responsibilities

By booking, you confirm and agree that:

  1. You will remove all valuables and personal items from the vehicle before we arrive, including cash, cards, jewelry, phones and electronics, documents, keys, garage remotes, toll tags you want to keep, sunglasses, child items and anything of sentimental value. We don’t move, open or go through personal items. Any area that still has personal items in it (for example a seat, the floor, the trunk, the glove box, the center console or a door pocket) is left as it is and not cleaned, and the price stays the same. Trash such as wrappers, papers, receipts and cups is thrown away during cleaning. We are not responsible for any item left in the vehicle, whether it is lost, damaged, or thrown away because it looked like trash.
  2. You own the vehicle or have the owner’s permission to book the service.
  3. You have permission to have the work done at the service address. If you live in an apartment, an HOA community or are booking at a workplace, it is your job to check the rules. We only work between 7 am and 9 pm, inside local noise rules; if your community has stricter quiet hours, please pick a time inside them. Any fines, fees, tickets, towing or disputes related to the location are your responsibility.
  4. You provide water and electricity from an outdoor spigot and outlet within about 50 feet of the vehicle, and you agree to us using them.
  5. The vehicle is parked legally and safely, with room to open all doors.
  6. You tell us before we start about anything we should know: leaks, worn or broken seals, loose or damaged parts, aftermarket parts, wraps, paint protection film, ceramic coatings, repainted panels, sensitive electronics, alarm systems, or anything else unusual.
  7. Children and pets stay away from the work area, hoses, cords and equipment.
  8. If you leave the vehicle unlocked or leave the keys out for us, you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for theft or damage before we arrive or after we leave.

3. Existing damage and wear

We may walk around the vehicle and photograph it before and after the service. Existing damage and wear are not caused by the detail, and we are not responsible for them. This includes scratches, swirl marks, chips, dents, scuffs, curb rash, cracked glass, rust, stains, tears, burns, fading, worn interior surfaces, failing or peeling paint or clear coat, oxidation, loose, broken or missing trim, emblems, mirrors, wipers or antennas, aftermarket parts, wraps, decals, film, tint, previous repairs or repaints, and mechanical or electrical problems, warning lights and leaks that were already there. Cleaning can make existing damage easier to see. That doesn’t mean the cleaning caused it.

4. What cleaning can and can’t do

Detailing improves how a vehicle looks. We can’t guarantee the removal of every stain, odor, scratch, water spot, tree sap, tar or other contamination. Results depend on the vehicle’s age and condition. Spray wax and the ceramic spray sealant add-on last weeks to months and wear off with weather and washing. Neither is a ceramic coating.

5. Notes on specific services

  • Exterior wash: water can get in through worn or damaged door seals, window seals, sunroofs, sunroof drains, convertible tops and similar openings. We are not responsible for water getting inside, or for any damage it causes. We don’t wash in freezing temperatures, except on a severe-weather day we’ve agreed to (see section 7).
  • Interior detail: surfaces may be slightly damp for a short time afterward. We are not responsible for malfunctions of screens, buttons or electronics that were already failing, or for mold, mildew or odors caused by existing leaks.
  • Engine bay cleaning (add-on): done by spraying an engine bay cleaner and wiping by hand, without a pressure washer. Engine bays contain electrical parts and hoses. You book this add-on at your own risk. We are not responsible for warning lights, electrical faults, starting problems, or failures of parts that were already old, worn, cracked, leaking or loose. We may decline to clean an engine bay with visible leaks, exposed wiring or damage.
  • Headlight restoration: we can’t fix moisture inside a headlight, cracks, or damage to the housing, and results and how long they last vary with the lens and with sun exposure.
  • Free tire pressure check: a courtesy, not an inspection. We set the pressure to the numbers on your door sticker when we can. We are not responsible for the condition of your tires, slow leaks, valve stems, tire pressure sensors (TPMS) or tire failures.
  • Free washer fluid top-up: we use a standard all-season washer fluid. If your vehicle needs a specific fluid, tell us and we’ll skip it. We are not responsible for issues from mixing fluids that you didn’t tell us about.

6. Our right to refuse or stop

We may refuse, stop or reschedule a service at any time if conditions are unsafe or unsuitable, including bad weather, no access to water or power, biohazards (bodily fluids, mold, needles, pests, animal waste), aggressive animals, or abusive behavior. If we stop because of something that wasn’t disclosed before booking, we may charge for the work already done.

7. Booking, cancelling and weather

When you book on this website, the day and time you pick are held for you right away, and we text you to confirm the details. There’s no deposit. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

Our right to cancel or reschedule. We may cancel or reschedule any booking, and decline any request, at any time and for any reason, for example weather, illness, equipment problems, an earlier job running long, safety, or an address outside our area. If we do, we’ll text you (or call you) with the reason as soon as we reasonably can. There’s no charge for a booking we cancel, and a reward or monthly plan wash it was using stays on the car. Cancelling or rescheduling at no charge is our only obligation: we aren’t responsible for any cost or loss caused by a cancellation or a change of time, such as time off work, changed plans or other arrangements you made.

Rain. We don’t wash in the rain. If rain makes the job impossible, we move you to the next good day at no charge.

Snow, ice and freezing cold. If the National Weather Service forecast for a day shows snow, sleet, ice or freezing rain, a winter storm, or a high of 35°F or below, that day can’t be booked online. You can send a booking request for it instead. A request isn’t a booking and doesn’t hold the time until we text you to accept it. If we accept it, a 25% severe-weather fee is added to the price of the service and add-ons. If we don’t, we’ll offer you the next good day at the normal price, with no fee. You’re free to say no either way. In these conditions water can freeze on the paint, glass, seals, locks, door handles and wipers. By sending a request for such a day, you accept that risk: we aren’t responsible for frozen locks, seals or doors, ice left on the vehicle, or damage caused by freezing. We’ll do what the conditions allow, and we may stop or move the job if it becomes unsafe.

Whatever the forecast said when you booked, if the weather on the day makes the work unsafe or impossible, we’ll reschedule at no charge.

8. Text messages

Texts about your booking. By booking, you agree that we may text the mobile number you give us about that booking: to confirm it, ask about the job, answer a request, move it because of weather, or cancel it and tell you why. These texts are part of the service, not marketing. You can text us back like any other text. If you’d rather not get them, reply STOP (or tell us) and we’ll call or email you about your booking instead. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.

Offer texts (optional). We only text you about discounts and offers if you check the box for them on the booking form. These are recurring automated marketing texts, and how often we send them varies. Saying yes is not a condition of buying anything. We only send them between 8 am and 9 pm Richmond time. Reply STOP to any of them to stop, and we’ll keep your number on our do-not-text list. Message and data rates may apply.

Mobile carriers aren’t liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your number.

9. Checking the work and reporting problems

Please check the vehicle with us before we leave, or look over the photos we send. Any problem with the work, and any claim that something was damaged, must be reported before we leave or by text with photos within 24 hours of the service. After that, the service is considered accepted, and we can’t accept claims.

If you report a problem in time, you must give us the chance to inspect it and fix it first. We are not responsible for repairs done by anyone else without our written agreement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including loss of use of the vehicle, rental cars, lost wages, lost time, diminished value or inconvenience.
  • Our total liability for any claim connected to a service is limited to the amount you paid for that service.
  • We are not liable for anything listed in sections 2 through 7 above, including a booking we cancel or reschedule.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Virginia law.

11. Payment

Payment is due when the job is done. We accept credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, cash, Zelle, Venmo and Cash App. One discount per visit; discounts can’t be combined.

Referral discount. If a friend sent you, add their name when you book. You get 10% off the service and add-ons of that visit, and your friend gets 10% off their next visit once your job is done. It isn’t on travel or weather fees or the monthly plan price, it can’t be exchanged for cash, and we may check it with both of you. We can change or end this offer for future visits.

12. Photos

We may take before-and-after photos of the vehicle for our records. We only post them online if you’ve said yes, and we keep license plates, house numbers and faces out of them.

13. Changes, severability and law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version, and the version in effect when you booked applies. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and any dispute will be handled in the courts for the Richmond, Virginia area.
