Mobile Car Wash & Detailing Questions, Answered
The things people ask before booking. If your question isn't here, text us and you'll get a straight answer.
Booking and the visit
Yes. We're a mobile car wash and detailing service: we come to your home or office anywhere in Greater Richmond and hand wash and detail the car where it's parked. We bring the soap, buckets, towels, vacuum and everything else. You just need an outdoor water spigot and an outlet within about 50 feet of the car.
Go to the booking page, pick the service, your car, a day and an open start time, then tap Book now. The time is yours right away, and nobody else can book it. We confirm the details by text and send a reminder the day before. If you'd rather talk to a person, call or text (804) 634-7538.
Seven days a week, 7 am to 9 pm, weekends included. The latest start time depends on the service, so every job is finished by closing time and we're never running equipment late in your neighborhood. Between appointments we leave time to finish properly and drive to the next car, so we're never rushing yours.
No. Plenty of our customers are at work. Leave the car unlocked or the keys somewhere we agree on, and make sure we can reach an outdoor spigot and an outlet. We'll text you when we start and send photos when we're done.
An outdoor water spigot and a regular outlet within about 50 feet of the car, and enough room to open all the doors. Take all valuables and personal items out before we arrive. We don't move or go through personal things, so any spot that still has them (a seat, the floor, the trunk, the glove box or console) is skipped. We're not responsible for anything left in the car. We clean around car seats but don't remove or reinstall them.
Often, yes. Some apartment complexes and office parks don't allow car washing in their lots, so check with the leasing office or property manager first. If an exterior wash isn't allowed, an interior detail usually is, because nothing runs off the car. We just need an outlet we can reach.
If the forecast looks bad, we'll text you the day before and move you to the next open slot. There's never a fee for a weather reschedule. Light drizzle doesn't stop an interior detail.
An exterior hand wash takes 1 to 1.5 hours. An interior detail takes 1.5 to 2 hours. A full detail takes 2.5 to 3 hours. Headlight restoration adds 1 to 1.5 hours, and an engine bay cleaning about 30 minutes. Bigger or dirtier vehicles take longer.
Let us know at least 24 hours ahead so we can give the time to someone else. There's no deposit, so there's nothing to refund. If we ever have to cancel or move your booking (weather, illness, equipment), we'll text you the reason as soon as we can, and there's no charge.
Prices and payment
Our prices: exterior hand wash $79 for a sedan or coupe and $99 for an SUV, truck or minivan. Interior detail $89 / $109. Full detail, inside and out, $149 / $179. Headlight restoration is $129 on its own, or $99 added to any wash. Add-ons: ceramic spray sealant +$30, engine bay cleaning +$25. Every service includes a free tire pressure check and a free washer fluid top-up. See the pricing page for what each one includes.
More paint, more glass, more seats, and sometimes a third row. A big SUV takes noticeably longer than a sedan, and the price reflects the extra time.
Only two. If the car needs a lot more work than normal (heavy pet hair, mud, sand, spilled drinks), there's a $25–$75 heavy-soil fee. We'll show you and agree on it before we start, never after. And if you're more than 20 miles from Richmond, there's a flat $25 travel fee, which the booking form shows before you book.
After the job, once you've looked the car over. We take credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay (tap to pay on our phone), cash, Zelle, Venmo and Cash App. No deposit and no card on file.
Yes. Our first 20 customers get 20% off any service. Refer a friend and you both get 10% off: your friend on their visit, you on your next one (they add your name when they book). And every 4th wash on the same car is 30% off. It's one discount per visit, whichever saves you the most.
Yes. Every 4th wash on the same car is 30% off the service and add-ons you book that visit, whatever they are. It goes by the car's license plate, so add the plate when you book. Exterior washes, interior details and full details count once they're done, if they're at least a week apart and within 12 months. Headlights on their own and monthly plan washes don't count. The booking form shows the discount when you book with the plate and the mobile number you used for that car before. It doesn't combine with other discounts, and it isn't on travel or weather fees.
Yes, for cars that had a Full Detail with us. After that, the Monthly Maintenance Wash is $99 a month for any size: one lighter inside-and-out wash per calendar month (hand wash, wheels, spray wax, vacuum, wipe-down and inside glass). To book it, add the car's license plate and the mobile number you booked the Full Detail with; once they match, the plan unlocks in step 1 of the booking form. You pay at the visit, like everything else. There's no contract, and nothing is charged automatically. If a whole calendar month goes by without a visit, the plan stops, and a Full Detail starts it again. See the pricing page.
The work itself
For your paint, yes. Tunnel washes use spinning brushes or cloth strips that drag grit from the last hundred cars across yours, and that's where most swirl marks come from. We wash by hand with two buckets and clean microfiber, so the dirt ends up in the rinse bucket instead of back on the car.
Every wash gets a spray wax once the car is dry. Water beads and rolls off, dirt doesn't stick as easily, and the paint feels slick. For $30 more, we add a ceramic spray sealant over the wax, which lasts longer. Both last weeks to months depending on weather and how often the car is washed. Neither is a ceramic coating. A real coating takes paint correction and a full day or more, and we don't offer that.
Our interior detail spot-treats light stains on fabric seats and carpet. We don't do hot-water extraction or deep shampooing yet, so set-in stains may not come out completely. If you send a photo before booking, we'll tell you honestly what to expect.
Not right now. We do four things: exterior hand wash, interior detail, full detail and headlight restoration, plus a ceramic spray sealant you can add to any wash and an engine bay cleaning you can add to any of them. We'd rather do those well than list services we can't stand behind.
Yes, as an add-on to any service for $25. It takes about 30 minutes. We spray an engine bay cleaner over the covers, hoses and plastics, let it loosen the dirt, then wipe everything down by hand. No pressure washer and no hose on the engine.
Before we leave, we check all four tires against the pressure on your door sticker and add air to any that are low. We also top up your windshield washer fluid. Both come with every service, at no charge.
Most people do an exterior wash every two to four weeks and a full detail every three or four months. In Richmond, the two times an extra wash pays off are pollen season (roughly March through May) and right after the roads have been salted.
After sanding and polishing, we seal the lens with a UV-blocking coating. On most cars that holds up a year or longer. The wipe-on kits from the parts store usually start yellowing again within a few months because they skip that UV layer.
